SCALE FLY-IN 2009On the 7th of June we held a Scale Fly-in for any MACI member to come along and enjoy. Even though I received many phone calls about the event some early on the morning of the event not a huge number turned out on the day. It appears that a little wind scares some people away, and in this country will limit them to very few events to attend. But for the flyers that did attend we got to see some beautiful models and very skilful flying. Please take a look in our Gallery page. SCALE GALA 2009On the 6th of June last we held the 2009 Scale Gala. We modellers never seem to catch a break with the weather and considering the previous weekend we could not have been more unlucky. Either way we and our compeditors battled on bravely and an enjoyable and jovial event was held. Modellers travelled from as far as Cavan in their mobile house!?!?! starting out as early as 5 in the morning to get to the competition. It was a pity that more compeditors did not attend but that is their loss and ours. With Eamonn keenan competing in F4C I was witnessing flying as good as any I have seen from Eamonn especially considering the windy conditions. Even with no competition in this class he gave a great display and was in spirited good humour throughout the day. In Clubman there was tough competition for the top spot with Liam butler with his YAK 54 pipping our own Andy Ryan flying a Cub. But in NOVICE there was James Murphy who would have given anyone in Clubman a run for their money with his PC9 which seemed to be flying in calm conditions. Overall a good day was had and plenty of food on the Barbaque all day. The competition basically ran its self as all knew what to do. Also many thanks to Judge Steve Quigley who assisted the novice Judges and myself on the day. Check out some of the photos on our Gallery Page. LEINSTER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009On the 24th + 25th of May last the Leinster aerobatic Championships were held at the Model County Flying Club. With Pilots arriving on the Friday to practice this was shaping up to be a great event. On the Saturday morning some rain held up the competition slightly but then the day improved and was even better on the Sunday. Food was plentiful with barbequed meats, potatoes, sweetcorn and not to mention the WEXFORD strawberries for all who competed or even just came to watch. Many thanks to the great efforts of Andy Ryan on the Barbeque and Collette for EVERYTHING else, you did us proud yet again. Tier 1 was won by Angus Balfour with Shane Robinson coming second with Ray Keane just behind. Tier 2 was dominated by Les Cowpar with Dave King is a close second and Jim Howard picking up the third prize, well done Jim. The King of Masters again Paddy Galvin regained his trophy with nobody brave enough to give him a run for his money, is anyone brave enough yet? Many thanks to all who travelled for such an enjoyably and uneventful competition and many thanks to the Model county Flying club for hosting he event. See photos of the event in our GALLERY. SOUTH LEINSTER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008 On 19th and 20th of July last we hosted an Annual flying event but this year we had a guest flyer, Stephan Carrier from France who came 7th in this years world championship in Argentina. Stephane perfomed several displays as well as competing in the event. He gave some memoral 3D like displays with his YS 170 powered F3A plane. The event was won by Stephane with Shane Robinson coming second and Niall O'Sullivan coming a close third. Paddy Galvin won Masters class and sportsman class was won by young James Murphy with Dessie Owens coming second and Eugene Jordan placed third. We hope to have some video footage of Stephane flying at out field on this web-site soon so keep a lookout. SCALE COMPETITION ON SAT 7th JUNEThere will be a scale competition held in our flying site on Saturday 7th of June. All MACI members are welcome to come and compete, please contact Dessie Owens 087 2220824 for information. Members of the Public are also welcome and we would ask them to comply with all our safety rules, for their safety and in the interest of the compeditors This should be a good event and we are expecting a good turnout. Food will be provided as a barbaque will be going for many hours. The fee for the competition is € 20 and this includes food. Starting time for the competition is 09:00. For directions please look at 'OUR FLYING SITE' link on this page. Looking forward to seeing you all. MONAGEER John Doyle Memorial DISPLAY 27_04_2008 Firstly thanks to all who participated on the day, I feel it was a good success. Thanks to all who brought along their models for the Static display as it generated a good deal of interest, and all of our contact FLYERS were taken away. Also thanks to the fliers who gave a good flying display which did generate a good amount of interest. It was probably the only sunday lately that we could have flown with pleasure at our own patch but these members gave up their time for a worthy cause. Even Ivans control line model generated a lot of interest as did jimmys and brendans helis and Andys LITTLE planes. Many thanks again.
